The Most Chocolate Strawberry Brownie

Ingredients:

For the Brownie:

  • 150 g unsalted butter
  • 200 g dark chocolate, chopped
  • 150 g sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 100 g all-purpose flour
  • 30 g cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt

For the Strawberry Topping:

  • 250 g fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 2 tbsp sugar (optional, depending on the sweetness of the strawberries)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Brownie:

  • Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper.
  • In a double boiler or a microwave, melt the butter and dark chocolate together until smooth. Let it cool slightly.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Slowly pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, whisking constantly until smooth.
  • Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top.

2. Bake the Brownie:

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Allow the brownie to cool completely in the pan before slicing.

3. Prepare the Strawberry Topping:

  • While the brownie cools, prepare the strawberries. If you prefer sweeter strawberries, toss the sliced strawberries with 2 tablespoons of sugar and let them sit for 10-15 minutes to macerate.
  • Once the brownie has cooled, gently layer the sliced strawberries on top of the brownie, covering it evenly.

4. Serve:

  • Cut the brownie into squares or rectangles, ensuring each piece has a generous amount of strawberries on top.
  • Serve as is, or with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for added indulgence.
